Luis Claverie Bautell and Óscar Sánchez Janubio were the winners of the first edition of the Costa Teguise Championship
This week Costa Teguise Golf, one of the two magnificent enclaves on the island of Lanzarote for the practice of 18-hole golf, hosted the Costa Teguise Championship, a newly created tournament promoted by the course itself and the Professional Golf Association of the Canary Islands (PGA Canarias). The Costa Teguise Championship has once again highlighted the island’s suitability for the practice of this sport.
During the tournament at Costa Teguise Golf – at 6,462 metres the longest course in the Canary Islands – Lanzarote has once again shown its potential as a tourist and sporting destination. Under the excellent weather conditions that are usual on the easternmost island of the Canary archipelago, the players took part in a high-level sporting event over three days and were able to take advantage of their stay to enjoy the varied and multiple charms of the destination. Thanks to Lanzarote’s two golf courses, Costa Teguise Golf and Lanzarote Golf, the island welcomes thousands of golf lovers every year, who seek not only to improve their handicap but also to take away an unforgettable experience, often shared with family and friends.
On this occasion, Luis Claverie and Óscar Sánchez won the World Championship in Costa Teguise. Carlos Sunesol was runner-up in the professional category and Fernando Roca won the championship in the Senior category. In addition, the winning team in the Pro-am was that of Carlos Sunesol, while in the Amateur category the victory went to the team formed by Elías Martín, Francisco Moreno, Raúl Moreno and Juan López Espada.
